I don`t know what is salmon cultural backgrounds. I can`t find. The salmon smoked hard in the Indian tradition and salmon smoked light in the Scottish tradition. It can also be as simple as a barbecued salmon dotted with butter and lemon. Commercial fishing for salmon began shortly after the arrival of Europeans on the West Coast. Soft in texture, very rich in oil. Pacific salmon, with some individuals growing to more than 100 pounds.

The John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is the NASA space vehicle launch facility and Launch Control Center on Florida. The site is near Cape Canaveral, midway between Miami and Jacksonville, florida. It is 34 miles (55 km) long and around 6 miles (10 km) wide, covering 219 square miles (567 km2). A total of 13,500 people work at the site as of early 2008. There is a visitor center and public tours; KSC is a major tourist destination for visitors to Florida. Because much of KSC is a restricted area and only nine percent of the land is developed, the site also serves as an important wildlife sanctuary are also features of this area. The Visitor Complex also includes two facilities run by the Astronauts Memorial Foundation. The most visible of these is the Space Mirror Memorial, also known as the Astronaut Memorial, a huge black granite mirror through-engraved with the names of all astronauts who died in the line of duty. These names are constantly illuminated from behind, with natural light when possible, and artificial light when necessary. The glowing names seem to float in a reflection of the sky.

Crazy Horse is currently being commemorated with the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota — a monument carved into a mountain, in the tradition of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial (on which Korczak Ziolkowski had worked). The sculpture was begun by Ziolkowski in 1948. When completed, it will be 641 feet (195 m) wide and 563 feet (172 m) high. Though still incomplete because of funding constraints, the sculpture has been criticized by some American Indian activists (most notably Russell Means) as exploitative of Lakota culture and Crazy Horse's memory as well as desecrating sacred ground.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial

Whose Faces - Carved into the face of a mountain in South Dakota are the faces of four great American presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Why Them - “The birth of our nation was guided by the vision and courage of George Washington. Thomas Jefferson always had dreams of
a greater, more perfect nation, first in the words of the Declaration of Independence and later in the expansion of our nation through the Louisiana Purchase. Preservation of the union was Paramount to Abraham Lincoln, a nation where all men were free
and equal. At the turn of the Twentieth Century Theodore Roosevelt envisioned a great nation, a leader on the world stage, our nation was changing from a rural republic to a world power. The ideals of these presidents laid a foundation for the United States of America as solid as the rock from which their figures were carved.” (Source: National Park Service web site.)

How - Sculptor Gutzon Borglum created a plaster model from which measurements were taken using the pointing system. On October 4, 1927 the first actual work of carving began. Dynamite was used to remove rock from the mountain until there was only a thin, three to six inch (roughly 15 cm) layer of granite left. This final layer of granite was removed by a process called "honeycombing." Then the surface was worked smooth with a bumper tool. This left the faces as smooth as a sidewalk. Work began on Mount Rushmore with George Washington. His head was first carved in an egg shape, and his
features added later. Thomas Jefferson was started on Washington's right. After about two years of working on Jefferson, the granite was found to be badly cracked and Jefferson had to be blasted off the mountain. He was started again on the left side of Washington.

When - Washington's face was dedicated on July 4, 1934, Thomas Jefferson's in 1936, Abraham Lincoln's in 1937, and Theodore Roosevelt’s in 1939. For two more years the work continued on the mountain. Details and finishing touches were made. In March of 1941 Borglum suddenly died and his son, Lincoln, took over the project for the next seven months, until funding ran out. The carving of Mount Rushmore was shut down and the presidential faces were complete as they stood.

By the Numbers - The Presidents' faces are 60 feet (18.3 m) high. Today, more than 2.7 million people visit Mt. Rushmore each year, making it one of the most popular monuments in the United States.

The Mississippi River is the second longest river system in the United States. Only the Missouri River is longer. The Mississippi flows 2,340 miles (3,766 kilometers) from its source in northwestern Minnesota to its mouth in the Gulf of Mexico. The word, Mississippi probably comes from a combination of Chippewa words (mici and zibi) meaning "great river" or "great water."

I learned about Southern United States: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tenessee, Arkansas, Lousiana. This area is including temperate, sub-tropical, tropical and arid climatic zones. The Native Americans living in the state, such as the Greek Indians, Cherokee and Choctaws.
Some presidents lived this area: Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Washington. Later, the Great Depression the economy increased, some automobile factories sit down here: Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, GM, BMV. The agriculture is developed, they have cotton, tobacco, soybeans and corn and other foods.
Florida is one of the largest states east of the Mississippi River, and only Alaska and Michigan are larger in water area. Famous mountans are the Appalachians. The highest point is Mount Mitchell 6,6684 ft (2037 meter).

Compare Southeast region US to my hometown VietNam

The Southeast Region of the United States is home to the oldest permanent settlement. There are 12 states in the Southeast. Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia are 4 of the 13 original states. Georgia is the largest state in the Southeast. Florida, however, has the most people. The remaining states in this region are: Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and West Virginia.
It is quite different from my region home country,VietNam.Southest region in US is very hot with deserts, sub tropical. My country,VietNam has only 2 regions:Northern and Southern region and VietNam country belongs to tropical climate. The Southern region is hot in summer and cold in winter. Also,it is a place which have storm and drought every year.Besides, the Southern region is rather lucky compared to the Northern region. It is a wonderful place with perfect climate with the weather is not cold and not hot.During all day of the year is warm.My home belongs to Southern region.
Especially, there are wonderful and beautiful beaches to enjoy views or enjoy delicious seafood. It is not only delicious but also rather cheap. The Southeast region in US is where Native American live with so it is rich with culutre, history and economic opportunities with famous factory and lots of architectures. Some president lived in Southeast region in US.My hometown,VietNam is also rich histoy, culture and of course big economic opportunities especially Ho Chi Minh city which belongs to Southern region.Lots of foreigrners are invested there.Moreovers, the living costs in my country is rather comfortable with everyone. For this reason, lots of people from another country such as America,Australia,China...They go to my country to spend their time to enjoy comfortable life.
